Mayor Bloomberg announced today the premiere of a city-sponsored television show designed to help unemployed New Yorkers find jobs.

“Job Hunt” a ten-week series, will air on Tuesdays at 9:00 PM on NYC Life (Channel 25).

The show “will help us put even more New Yorkers back to work,” declared Bloomberg at the Downtown Brooklyn headquarters of Workforce 1 Career Centers.

In each episode a team of experts and recruiters will contribute tips on resume building, interviewing skills, and how to dress to impress. The show will target college graduates, job seekers over the age of 40, veterans, and people with disabilities.

“Within certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn, over 20 percent of men are unemployed and that is intolerable,” said Borough President Marty Markowitz.

The show also highlights New Yorkers who are taking advantage of the services that Workforce1 Career Centers and NYC Business Solution Centers offer. Both centers offer job placement, job training, and career counseling. In 2009, Workforce1 Career Centers placed 25,000 New Yorkers with jobs.
